Situated between Rye and Hastings on the A259, The Lodge at Winchelsea is an ideal location for exploring the beautiful and historic 1066 countryside.
The Lodge endeavors to make it as easy as possible for all of our clients to enjoy the full range of our facilities
The Lodge is at the bottom of the hill leading from the town of Winchelsea towards Hastings, there is ample free onsite parking and easy access to the main Lodge building via a ramp to the front door.
We have 28 en-suite bedrooms 8 of which are located on the ground floor with one step access, for which we have a portable ramp. These rooms also have open plan wet rooms with level entry.

The Lodge at Winchelsea is easily reached by public transport and road. Winchelsea station is 1.3miles from the Lodge, Bus route 100 between Hastings and Lydd stops on request outside the Lodge once an hour in both directions.
By car we are located just off the A259, with ample free parking, drop off points outside reception. There are several taxi companies in the local area, the best and closest are in Rye. Accessible taxis can be booked by us on request.

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets
Open plan, en-suite wet rooms with level access to shower and bedroom are in all ground floor rooms
Grab rails are in all the ground floor shower areas
Adjustable stool is available, on request, for use in shower
Public Areas – Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors
All public areas, halls, stairs, landings etc. are well lit using a combination of ceiling and wall lights
Public Areas – Restaurant, Bar & Lounge
The bar and lounge area, with well spaced tables and sofas, are on ground level with no step access
The main Lodge dining area is accessed by several steps
There is a second restaurant area with just one step leading to it, for which we can provide a ramp
Table service is available for all food and drinks
The toilets are located on the ground floor with no step access by reception
Disabled toilet facilities are situated in the ladies toilets
Conference and Meeting Rooms
The Lower ground floor function room has wheelchair access
Unisex disabled toilet facilities are available opposite the main entrance to the function room
Car Parking and Arrival
There is plenty of free on-site parking; several rooms have car parking ports beneath them, there are ample spaces in 2 tarmac car parks and a gravel over flow car park.
The tarmac car parks are on a gentle slope with smooth tarmac to the main building and all the rooms.
Timed lights come on at dusk and remain on until the early hours
Main Entrance / Reception / Welcome Area
Reception is on the ground floor with ramp access
There are two door frame bumps in the doorways leading to reception
The reception and lounge area are on ground level with smooth wooden floors
The reception desk counter is quite high but there is a lower side section where guests can check in
The Lodge is well lit during opening hours
There are 8 ground floor rooms with increased accessibility.
All ground floor rooms have one step access with doorways which are 780mm/30.7ins wide.
We have several portable ramps to allow access over these single steps
Furniture can be moved on request as there is limited space for larger wheelchairs between the bottom of the bed and the radiator.
